TugGING
Tug-of-War, Fetch, Bite & Carry
One of the most important things you can do for and with your dog is to play tug-of-war, where you always you let the dog win at least 90% of the time, and praise him enthusiastically for winning. Biting objects in play is the ultimate release of tension and stress for dogs. Plus, the harder a dog will bite his toys in play, the more he’ll obey. By bringing the toy back (bite-and-carry) and offering up to you the dog is making a deep emotional connection, based on his need to be part of a hunting partnership. This not only deepens your dog's bond with you, it makes him more obedient in any and all situations.
