Suppling

Suppling is a matter of massaging the dog’s shoulders, topline (or spine) and haunches in order to relax him or her. The idea is to get the dog so relaxed that she'll easily and happily roll over on one side, perhaps for a tummy rub. Perhaps just because she feels happy and at totally at ease. Most of the dogs in these videos are being suppled for the first time, so you'll see them exhibit a bit of tension, lip-licking, etc., at first. But once they start to enjoy being massaged — which may take a few days or a few weeks — they're usually more relaxed overall.
